has happened in the last month and a half since I last blogged. For the Cutter man it has been new teeth and crawling. His second bottom tooth just came through today. The first one broke through a couple of weeks ago. He's been officially crawling for three or four days now. He actually learned how to sit up on his own before he figured out the crawling thing. It's great how much happier they become when they can finally do things on their own. He is such a good kid. He loves to be tossed around and turned upside down.
It finally warmed up and we went out in the backyard yesterday to sit and enjoy the sunshine. We learned that Cutter does not like the feel of grass on his feet! We also learned that "The Beast"(cat), as I call her, loves the great outdoors. When the neighbor kids saw her (stole her, in Gracie's mind) there was a little melt down. Never fear, we rescued her. Gracie has decided to call her Edwin. Great name for a female cat! Oh well. To me she will always be "The Beast".
Gracie is almost done with her first year of preschool. Since her birthday is in November I've been told she will just have to wait until the next year to start kindergarten. Not to brag or seem like the typical mom that thinks her kid is the smartest but she is WAY smart and I fear that one more year of preschool is going to hold her back. Okay, honestly, I KNOW one more year will hold her back. We'll see what the fall brings. My plan is to work on the reading and writing this summer. She is really into asking me if I know how much suchandsuch + suchandsuch is. I'm really bad at math so she's already surpassed me on that one!
Gracie just had her first offical hair cut a little over a week ago. We had planned on getting it cut a month ago but when the time came she chickened out. I was way bummed because she had been so excited about it, and for a whole week she asked me every day how many days until she could get her hair cut. Cousin Randi was able to trim it up a little bit without too much trouble. After that she thought it was the coolest thing to get her hair cut. I got mine cut on Friday and she wanted to get hers cut again. So now it is about shoulder length. She loves it and has requested to get her hair cut everyday! Now when we wash her hair or curl it she has to make sure it isn't going to make it longer because she loves it short. My hair is shorter, too, but since I'm the one always holding the camera there is no picture proof of my new 'do. But please feel free to picture it in your head. If you decide to go that route I request that you also picture me to be 5'10" and a couple lbs lighter. Pretty much, just put my head on Mandy Moore's body. I will be satisfied. Maybe you are asking yourself, "why Mandy Moore?" I happen to think she has a good body image. She is healthy and not too skinny. So there.
Speaking of skinny, Jake is working hard. When doesn't he work hard? If you tell him "you can't" he will do everything in his power to show you he can! He never gives up and it is something that can only be admired. You know how in school when it seemed like all the teachers gave you tons of homework at the same time? I'm pretty sure that is how he feels right now. I know he can get it all done. It's just a pain in the butt until then. We are looking forward to a little free time this summer and hopefully a whole lot of fishin'!!
